Phex using 100% I had this problem with the previous version, 2.8.0.91, in which my computer would stop reacting to my inputs or would react VERY slowly. When I could finally pull up the task manager it showed Phex as using 100% of the CPU's capacity! I DL'd 2.8.2.92 to see if this problem had been addressed. No dice. Still does it to me. However, this does not happen right away. I've timed it and the average time is 4-5 hours until it starts hogging resources. Is this my computer, something I am doing wrong or is it Phex? AMD Athlon 3200+, Windows XP SP2, 1GB RAM, 200GB hard drive, 1.5Mbps connection |
If you share many files, it might be, that Phex is hashing them for a very long time, but a memory leak is also possible. We'll have to wait for input from Gregor I assume. Do you have a log (in your Phex-Settings folder)? |
You could verify if you also have this problem if you dont share any files, or when you dont have any running downloads. |
I'll try running it w/o sharing and see what happens. |
Still does the same thing even when I'm not sharing anything. |
...and this only appears after a couple of hours? and never after just 1 or 2 hours or shorter? |
So far, no. I've run this "test" 8 times now and it takes, on average, 5-6 hours for it to start sucking up the resources. I'm wondering if it may be due to it continually searching for the files I have awaiting download. I hate to delete the list as I do want them and have many partially DL'd (just waiting for a source to come back online) but I may do this to test out this theory. Give it a run for 5-6 hours with no uploads, no DL's, no searching etc. I'll let ya know what happens. |
Phex stopped researching a while ago (automated requerying more than once an hour was outlawed by the GDF, and till a better solution presents itself, it was disabled for good), so at least that shouldn't be the reason. |
That's interesting because last night I deleted all of my possible DL's and I didn't have the problem. Strange, yes? |
