Default Phex Search window display problems

I just upgraded the latest version of Phex on my Windows XP system.

First thing I encountered was some sort of sizing error in the search results box.

Specifically, some right-margin content, including the vertical scroll which should appear if my search results exceed the window size, are not visible.

I have tried expanding application to full screen or dragging the right edge out as far as it can go with no luck. Whatever I try, I cannot get full width of the search box to appear. Judging from what I see, there is about 20% content truncated past the right edge of the visible box.

Any suggestions?

Can you try to delete your search histrory, throught the User Interface Options, then restart and check if the box is now displayed correctly?

Tried clearing my search history with no improvement. So you can see what I am talking about, I took a screenshot showing a typical search with over 2000 results. As you can see the first few listings show but there's no vertical scroll bar to see the rest.

Do you have the same problem, after restart, when you use a different look and feel? Like the Metal L&F or Windows L&F?

What Java version do you use?

Switching to "Windows (System Look and Feel)" had the effect of reducing the displayed font sizes inside the window, resulting in a fix for the problem .

Just for testing I switched back and the problem (along with larger fonts) re-appeared though not as bad as the screen shot I posted.

Thanks for the assist, much appreciated.

It's quite unclear to me why you have these larger fonts, could it be that it comes from a Windows system setting?

If you like to test a bit you can you can try the following:

Make a backup copy of the looks-2.0.1.jar file in your phex installation folder

Download this file:
http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.c...0&pathrev=3332

Rename it to looks-2.0.1.jar and place it in your phex installation folder.

Then you can check if you still have the same font troubles. At least there seem to be some font troubles with Windows ME and Vista in this library.

Changing out the "looks-2.0.1.jar" file with the one you linked above did completely fix the font scaling problem.

And, yes, you are correct that I had a non-default Windows desktop setting.

Specifically, Windows desktop --> properties --> Appearance --> Advanced --> Icon font size = 12. (which is larger then the default).
