how to do (passive) search? I wonder what the exact semantics of search and passive search terms are. Are search terms always ANDed? Is it possible to search for strings including blanks, regular expressions etc? Are there differences between regular and passive search semantics? |
On regular search the semantic depends on the client receiving your search terms. Generally it is ANDed and without regular expressions. On passive search the search terms are always ANDed and are separated by space. No regular expressions are used. This is mostly due to performance reasons. Since many hundreds of searches are passing through your client every minute. Gregor |
