[semi-ot] why not Sourceforge? I remember that years ago there was a debate about some sourceforge's policy change, causing many projects to shift from there to GNU-Savannah. What does the issue was about? I'd like to start my "gnutella content-oriented client" project on SF (still far better than the FSF resources), but I want to be sure about all the GNU issues... |
Sorry I have no idea, I wanted to let SF host my project to but I was tired of reading those agreements. I think if you really want to go sure what's the difference, read it yourself. Its still better than to rely on someone else's post. |
The issue is that sourceforge switched from using GPL software to propietary software. You used to be able to download sourceforge's backend software, but they switched to a propietary system. Savannah is like Sourceforge (although it hasn't implement bug reports and some other things yet), except that it's backend is open source, and always will be. |
I don't know about this back-end software. We develop a Gnutella client on sourceforge.net, and I was very impressed of all services they offer. In one month my team grew from two to eleven members! open source project site: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpu |
Agree. Just created a project on SourceForge, have not done much, what impressed me though is the service SourceForge provided. Their web server is extremely fast. http://gnucula.sourceforge.net :o |
