Gnutella for Messaging service?

Hi all,
I'm looking for an existing Java P2P framework to develop a mixed messaging and data transfering service in a intranet.
I wonder if Gnutella protocol and such it's implementation as JTella can be adapted for this purpose?
Can you give a piece of advice?
