My own Gnutella client? Hi, I have read gnutella protocal specification. It does not look difficult at all. My first question is: am I allowed to write my own client? Is there any open-source API for talking to Gnutella source? Any other issues, which I may encounter? Thanks New developer |

Gnutella is open source, so everybody may write his own client! Morgwen |
Just do it! :) You find some links about Gnutella here (if not allready known): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&threadid=4638 |
I cannot enter the URL you posted (message: you do not have permission to access this page) Can you give me the thread name so I can look for it? I want to use the gnutella network trough a simple java API, any help? |
This thread is 7 years old, so I don't think you will get a reply....;) |
I see. So is there thread on this forum that has some question like mine? I want to build a really simple gnutella client (text-based) using some existing java API. I tried using limewire but it is kinda complex. And I haven't found anything on how to use Phex as an API |
Then just come into the Phex Development Open Discussion forum and ask there: Development Open Discussion - Gnutella Forums I'm quite sure Gregor can give you some pointers where to begin. |
