Questions and Suggestions Questions: Does Gnuttella Network Log client's files into a Database for easy searching and append the appropiate ID/IP Tag? (suggestion); If so this I think is a bad idea for a couple of reasons. 1.) It leads me/us to believe if we retrieve successful searches, that whom ever the files are located are connected when most of the time they are not.'unavailable'. Question: This is really sort of a Security concern. Personally I don't like the display of my IP. Perfect info/doorway for hackers. could you make an option to enable/disable IP show? Suggestion: Two suggestion here. One, have a Filter option to filter out certain file types, e.g. (html, txt etc.)when searching and display too. BIG SUGGESTION: This will probably get a lot of applause from everyone. There needs to be a feature to enable/disable or filter out files found if the host/s are not currently connected. This is in reference to the DATABASE question above. Another words, If the files that I am searching for is not currently available for current download from an active user, then these files shouldn't even be returned in a serach query. Although its great to know that there are some sort of results, Having a bunch of returned querys with dead servers is meaningless and a waste of time if the host is not currently connected. SUGGESTION: I think the Gnutella Netowrk really needs to have its main focus on "LIVE" connected users and not dead ones. Last but not least: CHAT , You got to have some sort of chat room/s. Just like Napster would be great! Freedom To Share TM |

Questions: >Personally I don't like the display of my IP. Perfect info/doorway for hackers. could you make an option to enable/disable IP show? You can change the IP reported by GNUTELLA, but this is useless for your concerns. If someone transfers a file from or to you, they know your IP address, and there's no way to get around that. Any file transfer program has the same problem. But remember, just because they have your IP address doesn't mean they can necessarilly break in to your system. >I think the Gnutella Netowrk really needs to have its main focus on "LIVE" connected users and not dead ones. There are no "Dead" connected users. I don't know why you are having so many problems with disconnected users, either your connection is too slow or you should try a different client. I personally use FURI and have had no problems at all. >You got to have some sort of chat room/s. Just like Napster would be great! Well first off Gnutella does have Chat, but it's rarely used. Besides, if you want chat, use IRC instead of some new, different protocol. |
