Firewalls I am having difficulty downloading from various Gnutella systems, being able to download only about one in ten tries. I am on a cable modem using Zone Alarm firewall set on high security. Does anyone know if the firewall is what is preventing me from downloading? Or is is just the nature of the Gnutella system that most downloads don't go through? Baabel17 |
read this, it will help: http://www.gnutellanews.com/information/firewalls.shtml |
It seems as if the only way to use Gnutella is for everyone to not have a firewall. Unfortunately, this does not sound like a good option. Are there any other options? |
I agree, if everybody had a firewall nobody would be able to download anything, Firwalls can't load from Firewalls.......... Looks like us without Firewalls are the only ones they can load from and as a special bonus for us we can load from anybody. Walt |
Actually, correctly setup firewalls are not a problem. I have port 8080 mapped from my router to my system. All I do is enter the IP address of the router with the port 8080 and there is no problem whatsoever. Conside configuring your own firewalls to do the same thing and GNUTELLA will be nicer for everyone. |
how did u know what port to use? where can i learn this? -and where can i learn to use linux? |
