Ads How can you say that having ads in your client means you are greedy, when Gnutella's official site; www.gnutella.com features ads itself? |

yes, and while there are murderer on this world why don't we all become murderers? Gnutella.com is a guy who grabbed the gnutella domain and has a page to make some money for his own pocket, no gnutella programmer gets anything from that. It's not even a very good visted or helpful page AFAIK. |

Why is this simple concept so hard for people to grasp? No wonder capitalists are so easy to extract taxes from. If you are providing the network bandwidth, or the SERVICE, then you should be able to post a ad because you are paying for the NETWORK BANDWITH, ELECTRICITY etc... If you are MAKING $$ SUCKING FREE BANDWIDTH OFF OF OTHER PEOPLE, then you are a leech, a greedy SOB and so on. Gnutella program "vendors" DO NOT PROVIDE BANDWIDTH, OR SERVICE to you! Other people provide bandwidth, files and service to you, you pay them back with YOUR bandwidth and files. Anything else is SUCKING OFF OF THE NETWORK. Never, ever pay for a gnutella client, not even through ads. If you do, you are a fool and you are contributing to greedy leeches. Is this clear enough? |

Without the programmers you would not even able to use Gnutella. If you think programming a client is done in a few weeks, plz code your own. Helping improving a open source client or paying a small amount is my way saying thank you to the programmers. I-want-all-for-free-and-I-want-it-now-and-that's-my-right-shouting-people sux. |

Do you think it's easy to write an application? Do you think you might use the application for free, while the developer (who has toiled for days) get's nothing? What if small mini-sized ads are featured, only such that the developer could afford hosting, and development of the application. Would you be happy with the person who deserves all the credit, gets something at-least? how would you answer this question In case you don't support the developer, YOU ARE GREEDY! You are extracting all of the Developer's knowledge free, leaving him with nothing! |

Any of you people ever used anything other than windows? Windows people are so brainwashed. Buy this, buy that. Ever heard of Linux? Yes you have, but are too brainwashed to go use it. If you do use it, you may find that paying for everything was the stupidest thing you ever did in your life. Good reason not use it, you will look like a fool, and we can't have that, so go with the brainwashing. |

Developers spend a lot of time and money to do their projects and they should get something for that. They can't charge for the program, as most of the p2p applications are free. Therefore, the only way they can make money is by putting ads (not necessarily spyware). They can be in the program's site, or in the program itself, but I don't consider them as an 'evil' thing. Gnutella.com... what can I say? It is hardly ever updated, and the help and development areas were never uploaded. Ivan "In the dark we make a brighter light"

Thanks, Backmann and Pizzachiliman, for understanding that putting ads (not spyware) makes you a criminal. This is a bad thought that has gone though most Gnutella enthusiasts. After what Bearshare and Limewire have done, there's a worm that has caught their brains. This worm, somehow fears ads (not spyware). Look at the rest of the web. 90% of the free internet software contain ads. And there, people think that the program with ads are better. Here, it is absolutely the opposite. Ad supported clients are taken as murderers. As it is, it takes Thousands of dollars to program a good efficient client. Add to that, it takes hours upon days upon weeks, or even months of toiling and hardwork from the developer. In the end, he has to develop an ad-free version, to suit the attitude of the Gnutella Enthusiasts. I think we, the users, are being greedy here. We should give some credit to the developers too. We should at-least let them have the time & money they spent on developing the app, that we are so freely using. When it comes to Bearshare and Limewire, I personally too think that they took it too far......... I am against spywares, but for ads. If you want devs further developing the application, all the devs need your help. You need some money to do that. So, let's stand united for the devs, help them, and take the Gnutella clients one step forward! |
