Default Charging for music, where did it start & why do we let them keep doing it?

I can see a cave man making a toot noise, so I think that is where it all started.
Then he tried it with his lips, and then vocalized it a bit and maybe he hummed a little bit.
Then someone made little noises and music was born.

So when did it start costing you your labor for someone to sing a song?

Why do we keep letting them make this particular type of sense stimulation a pay for thing?
