Wink

Thanks again, guys, I'm trying to get RR to change my IP, and
in the meantime I changed my firewall preferences so I
wouldn't be notified every time my computer was solicited.
D'oh! I should have done that earlier, and then I wouldn't have
been so...annoyed
btw, backmann, roadrunner is cable
also btw, hope I didn't start a major fight....

Hmmm... strange. Cable users have static IP adresses, so I'm starting to doubt if the problem was that somebody had your IP before. Anyway, I still recommend you to change it.

OK. So that should be the problem.

Peerless... I believe you are correct as far as the US goes... but many users are not in the US... I have no idea whether they use DHCP or fixed IP addresses internationally... Backmann may very well be correct within the scope of his location.

Umm...aren't mods the ones that are supposed to keep threads from going off-topic like this - not contributing to it? Of course, the worst part is, I'm a mod on another forum, and I just helped this go even farther off-topic

Yes and no...

we have not the time to watch for off-topic posts. And I think nobody really care about this...

Yeah, I was just teasing anyway = and in relation to the original question, it sounds to me like your firewall is already blocking the attempts so you should be fine. Many firewalls will give you the option to block and ignore (for logging/reporting) connection attempts for particular ports, so I'd imagine that that's what you'd want to do if you don't want to be bothered with seeing the connection attempts on 6346
