FYI: Morpheus not using Gnucleus anymore

Sanelson: Kick out the link of your signature, Morpheus is not using Gnucleus anymore, and yes, the 2.0 is out.

:(

Its currently using Java, probably based on JTella or an other java client. Its vendor is MMMM.

Just FYI

It seems to use some JTella code.

Where has the thread about Morpheus 2.0 that was in the Morpheus forum gone?

sanelson August 18th, 2002 03:22 AM

Gone ;)

It's kinda funny, though, isn't it.
They copied my signature almost word for word:

Maybe I can sue them for plagiarism. :p

Morpheus sux. They have never made their own program they just clone other programs.

Paradog August 19th, 2002 07:10 AM

Although I dont like Morpheus too I have to say that this "stealing" is 100% allowed, its covered in the GPL.
Have you checked the code? They made improvements too (I'm not speaking of the Ads LOL).

What I dont like about this is that the developers never get a thank of something like that.
At least they could say few thanks to Jtella on their homepage or something like that.

The only good idea they had was that song bundling thing..

Paradog is going to out himself....
I'm only sharing with Gnutella but downloading with Fasttrack.
Sorry, I really love Gnutella (better like) but Fasttrack is faster and more efficient.

By the way, - if we're already talking about using multiple networks. Anyone tried the new mldonkey from cvs yet? It's got gnutella support and will share all files you download from edonkey on gnutella and any other network it is connected to.

Mldonkey's gnutella support still lacks a couple of features, but it's probably going to be very nice, once it's finished.

I hate to say it, because I used to hate this client with a passion, but I've pretty much switched to WinMX for downloading for now. I still share my files on Gnutella, though. WinMX just seems to be faster and have alot more files that you can't find anywhere else... even on FastTrack. That, plus the fact that there is only one developer.
The multiple developers standpoint of Gnutella is both it's biggest strength and it's biggest weakness. If only all the developers could really get together and start making their clients 100% compatible with each other I think things would start to change rather quickly.
