Simply attach the downloaded file to an e-mail? Or did you mean something else?

I understand you must attach the downloaded file. I just don't know how to do it. When I'm on the lime wire site I don't find any place to attach or send the mail. I did mannae to search my files and locate the file but everyone I sent it to couldn't open it. Tzvi

I'm not sure which Operating System you're using, but on most Windows e-mail clients (such as Outlook and Eudora), you can simply drag the file from your folder onto a new (outgoing) e-mail.

As for attaching e-mails over the web, that really depends on what you are using. Hotmail for example requires you to press a specific button, which allows you to browse your PC for the file you'd like to attach. Other sites only allow you to enter text, no attachment.

But you said that people couldn't open it. Did they mean they received it, but couldn't work with the file? Perhaps the file format is something they can't use (.exe files won't run on Linux for example - not natively at least).

Thank you verymuch for your advice. However, I'm not sure I understand what you are telling me. You said I could drag the file to my email. I do have outlook and I don't understand what you mean. I can't open both outlook and limewire at the same time, can I? Also, where do I point on the lime wire to drag it somewhere. I guess you are talking to a completely computer illiterate and need more step by step insstructions. I thank you in advance for any help you can offer me. Tzvi

Ah, I have a better idea of what the problem is now.

When you have finished downloading a file from LimeWire, it is located in a regular Windows folder. So it isn't just available through LimeWire's Library tab. Open up Windows Explorer or My Computer and browse to, say, C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Shared. The folder where the file is saved to depends on your LimeWire settings though. If you're not sure where that folder is located, from LimeWie's top menu click "Tools" -> "Options", then select "Shared" from the tree.

Once you've opened that folder with Windows Explorer or My Computer, start MS Outlook and create a new message. Then from the folder, you simply drag the file onto that new message (select the file, hold down the left mouse button, drag to the e-mail and release the left mouse button).

You may also get some more help by posting your question in the LimeWire forum on this site.
