Gnutella History

I need to write an essay about Gnutella for school. So I need to know how it all started. I know there was the original Gnutella client developed by Nulsoft. And something with AOL... But its all very vague.

So I hope there are some veterans here who can tell me something about the Gnutella history :)

Should be interesting. How long an essay, and for what grade level? Did Google help you track down the AOL stuff?

I found some information on the Limewire homepage and in some Powerpoint files.

Well I expect the essay to be about 5 pages long. Gnutella's history will only be a small part.

This a "GLF" (you only know what this means if you are a german student) in the 12th grade in the german Gymnasium. I'm doing this for my computer science lessons.
