![]() I have serious doubt about Gnutella network nowdays, its not working as it should.Inspite of all features that comes out on the clients like ultrapeers, leafs, swarming, SHA, magnet-links and so on..it just doesnt help! What all those features have done as far as i can see is substancially lowered my network horizon to a fraction of that it one time was. This means of course that im feeling seriously enclosed within a boundary not able to reach out (very frustrating indeed, I think many agree with me here), at the same time not able to get my hands on new fresh files from new people that are on there, but cannot be reached becuase my horizon is so extremely small. Let me also say this i have been running Gnutella for about 2 years now with various clients. The latest is now Limewire. I start to believe that the Developers of clients are completely snowed in with their technical stuff, and doesnt see the end user side or even reality side of things, take this ultrapeer and leaf stuff, as i see it this feature was meant for old modem users that could become leafs without pulling to much traffic around. But the reality is that more and more people are moving over to broadband every day, and the most common form of broadband is ADSL. So what is the idea of making the gnutella a lean running network, if not to reduce the size of it seen from the end user point of view! One question is why on earth has Kaaza become so successful, my answer to that is easy, then a Kazaa user connects to Fast-track he or she will instantly see this huge horizon over people that are connected but also the vast amount of files that are out there and all this instantly, without to wait for hours. So what the Developer of gnutella clients must do is to produce the same type of feeling as the kazaa has in order to be successful, otherwise gnutella will never pass the 100 k mark. This is what i think the situation looks like today, the majority of people have kazaa as their main filesharing client, and only running gnutella occassionaly the problem with this is of course that most time is spent on Kazaa, rather then other way around. Also that these "kazaa" users running gnutella is treaten it the same way as kazaa, type connect-grab some files-disconnect directly. So the most Gnutella users doesnt seem to have a faintest idea over how gnutella works, this means of course that Gnutella user must spend much more time online then kazaa users. So i think this freeloader mentality is comming from kazaa users mainly. Now to something else that irretates me, concerning clients as a whole, why on earth does the hosts have to be the same brand as the client runned, well atleast mostly of the time!? also why are the most downloaders mostly of same brand!? i DONT WANT TO SIT IN A SMALL CELL OR POOL ON GNUTELLA NETWORK!! becuase this is the way we are treated gnutella users! So Gnutella developer stop be so brandy. Ok this is my situation right now. I have been watching Limewires network statistic over some days now. And this is how it looks like most of the time: Im running ADSL-512 full duplex, with Limewire 2.8.5, im running as leaf, becuase Limewire doesnt allow me to be Supernode. and the result is..Im not impressed! ![]() Current Hosts: 3 (my settings are for 6 hosts but will mostly never accours) Total Hosts: >800 (have never passed 1000 mark) Total Files: >200.000 Total File MBs >900.000 And once again this is how it looks like every time i connect to Gnutella, it never changes to any positiv side. giving the feeling again that what im seeing is the same old folks out there as before with their never changing files, sort of speak. So finally Gnutella users, are you feeling the same thing as me!?..Well how about then to speak out about those feeling, and not just wine about connection problems and download problems all the time, speak out like me for god sake!. |
