Default Should the network be restricted?

Hi there. As I mentioned earlier I had to notice that the gnutella-protocol is uses by !#§$% to spread kiddie-porn, etc.

Do you think the Gnutella-Network should be restricted?

Default Client Checking

I dont think the network should be monitored but the clients used should be checked to see that they do not waste bandwidth, pinging too often etc, when implementing to the Gnutella spec.

There are a lot of the internet that is open to abuse.

Default NO restrictions

I myself ,I am very principal when it comes to restrictions,I say NO.
You might wanna run into things you don't like, but that's just as in the real world.
If you don't like the files someone else is sharing, you can always report the ip number.

The problem is that the Ip the files come from must not come from a kidporn swapper but also from people who got those files unwanted like me. The problem is that these files not only got kidporn keywords but also "usual" adult-related keywords and can be downloaded by mistake.

And the interisting/bad thing:
I found out how to check if i got those files on my HD. It seems like that kind of files are preferred from others. So I only have to check what files are uploaded to others. In most cases: kidporn

But Tomato..........
If you are against kidporn, why do you share it ? If you are really agaist it, make shure you're not helping to spread it.
It is always a good setup not to share your download folder.
Unfortunally most clients do this by default, but it can be changed in settings.
That way you never share files wich you did not check first, not only for unwanted contents, but also to be shure if the files you are sharing are not corupted, damaged or incomplete
This keeps the network clean in lot's of ways
(I just hate it if I download a bad sounding mp3 or a corrupt zip)
And don't forget to copy fresh files to your share folder from time to time, this helps to keep the network fresh.

Keep on sharing! RaaF

I think I found my solution. I kicked all wrong files and added a bunch of words to my filter. Even if it also filters too much files im now quite sure to "keep my HD clean"

Default NO! NEVER!

NO! NEVER!

We all hate "kiddie-porn" and wish it wasn't on Gnutella but restrictions or filters are not the way to stop it.

For example what have restrictions done to stop drugs... NOTHING!

Restrictions would just ruin Gnutella.

First kiddie-porn, next what ...??
And does it help ? Just rename the files and everything´s the same as before - only more restrictions for us normal sharers.

So forget it !

There are much more efficient strategies.
