Default Copy Right issue

I read recently there was an issue of copy right violation with some ISP. It sems this ISP was being forced to reveil their records and was fighting this in court. I was under the imprression that sharing my mp3 files online or physically was perfectly legal. Am I missinformed?

Cool

Hello!

Accoring to the law it is illegal to distribute copyright protected songs without prior consent from the copyright beholder.

According to me it should be legal since I considering myself doing the record companys a favor by distributing their music online and also I think it is up to me if I want to be nice to others and be generous and share stuff but dont earn a penny on it. But they are to stupid to realise that and they actually blaims P2P for the loss in revenue lately whit dropped sales of CD's. I know it would have been much worse if P2P did not existed they would probably have lost even more money it is simply four major factors that have contributed to the fact that people are less willing to buy their music these days:

-Inflation in music:to much bad crap music is beeing released and also good artists music are released to often making people tired of it. The Madonna method is the way to go for huge artists but the Record Companys have been getting to greedy and are basically stupid. In the past good sound quality music was harder to get by!. Now it is constanly available in so many channels for instance several music channels on TV, In the speakers in shops for instance clothing shops and alot of other options that was not available in the past.

-CD Pricing: The price of a CD is to high these days. The price difference between a CD and DVD is to small. People have a hard time understanding why a CD only containing music should cost so much since CD's containing music theses days are very cheap to produce. The DVD was the savier for the movie industry. The music industry has to do something similar they have to upgrade their products. For instance when bying a complete album it should be part of a package containing maybe another CD or even DVD that people could watch in their DVD player containing maybe scenes from conserts, behind the scene material interwievs and such stuff. Maybe lite comical stuff aswell would not hurt.

Redistrubited financial situation:

People are paying more and more for media access in different forms. Especially mobile phone costs are high but also broadband Internet access and pay tv etc. This leave less financial room for people to pay the record Industri the sums they want from people to buy their music. They are in a competitive situation with other media but they dont seem to realise it.

Anger:

The Record industry have shown their true colors and people sometimes feel ripped off and therefore is angry at the music industri and threfore has selected not to buy their music.

Devalvation:

Soaps such as Popstars and Fame Academy and Pop Idol has done more harm then good and people has lost a bit of respect to the artists as a result.

Well, can I deduce that I am guilty of breaking copy right laws because I share my music on the web? Or is this issue still to be dedermined? Are the userers of LM at jeopardy? Should I stop using this program?

Yes, you are breaking it. You should keep using it only at your very own risk. You can not blame anybody, as these programs were not written for that particular purpose (alone). I guess that almost everyone who uses a p2p application (and I'm talking about millions and millions around the world) are distributing copyrighted material.
