I want to make sure I am not one of the people that I see other people complaining about on these forums.

Downloading etiquette: If I do a music search for a particular artist, and I receive a lot of results, is it wrong to attempt to download 10 different songs from 10 differrent hosts? My understanding is that it is wrong to try to download that many from one particular host. Is any of this wrong?

Upload etiquette: I understand that keeping my connection to the network allows other people to download from me. I often connect using my powerbook and am unable to leve it connected for long periods of time. I don't want to cut people off, but sometimes I have to. How do I check to see if something is being uploaded? And - is there anyway to warn connected people that you will not be on very long or that you are leaving?

Is there any source to look up answers to these types of questions

Downloading:
10 different songs from the same host is wrong.
10 different songs from 10 different host if wrong if you are using a 56k modem. If you have a fast connection then it should be ok.

Uploading:
Letting other upload is always good!!! About disconnecting you can set your upload limit to 0, wait till those that already had a upload going are done then disconnect. If they are going to be longer then you can wait you just have to disconnect anyway, after all unlike Napster you can just resume your downloads with Gnutella.
