starting a private network
 
how do i start a new private network? do i need to have a server to start this?

To start a private network, all you do is to change
' GNUTELLA CONNECT/0.4 ' to whatever you want, tell others about it, and bingo. You'll only connect to what your client is set to.

With the gnutella net there are no servers (other than the cache servers, letting you know who is on).

Now once you change gnutella connect/0.4, the cache servers won't help you anymore to find other IPs, cause that's all they run on.

So you tell your friends and you have your own private network.
There are things like reflectors which you could use to find each other. Check out clip2.com.
