What could be a reason for using a discontinued Gnutella client (except for lazyness to install a continued one)?

I don't really see the point in this poll.

Because there are people who see no point in changing or upgrading. For instance, when Gnotella was discontinued, I kept on using it for months. There was no better option then for me. Of course, ultrapeers did not exist back then, and I can not remember if the last beta had the .6 handshake or not. Still, I never got so many results and good downloads with another one.

i too used an outdated client for many months before i found a developed one that fit my tastes.. and now that i have found one i have no need for the other.. although it is now being developed again. (but doesnt fit my needs now)

Must have been some pretty selective needs. :D
