I am new to P2P networks. I currently have BearShare & Shareaza installed on my PC.

How does the Gnutella network compare to Kazaa?

I am considering installing a Kazaa client. Is it worth it?

Kazaa has a lot more users. If you don't find something on Gnutella you might still find it on Kazaa.

Kazaa has more users and content. However, that does not necessarilly imply you will find it there and not in Gnutella.

Gnutella is decentralised, Kazaa is not. Therefore, Gnutella can't be shut down (Kazaa can), but it is almost impossible to make a global search.

Couple of things that were forgot.

1. Gnutella has more 192 kps songs and more whole zipped albums, but as said above Kazaa has way more total music because it is so much bigger.

2. With Kazaa you are way more likely to get sued by the RIAA, since it is currently the biggest network and the RIAA always goes after the biggest first.

3. Gnutella is more diverse, Kazaa is mainly music.
