Limewire only makes you an UltraPeer if it notices that the network needs UltraPeers. Also 35 Upspeed isn't that fast. In the newer versions of Limewire, the programme shields UPs from searches for things found elsewhere.

You do get more results in UP mode, but you also get more bad results, because of the larger number of connections. Run PeerGuardian, it helps a bit, but only against bad IPs connecting directly to you. You can still connect to people that aren't running PG and therefore connect to the bad IPs.

If you have good speed and have been up n' runnin' for a long time, then you can just disconnect and reconnect, and it should connect as one. May take a few tries though.

I share and have UP enabled but LW very rarely connects as a UP I think the last time was 6 or so months ago. My ISP limits UL bandwidth which may have something to do With LimeWire not connecting as a UP.
