@Zultrax: This is in the technology-part of the Zultrax-page

Quote:
A privacy protection feature

Your Zultrax checks if the program on the other side is also Zultrax. If not then the intruder will be battled by either cancelling the connection or by sending him invalid information.

It is much more annoying for those who want to steal your privacy to be kept busy processing garbage than to be just disconnected.
Could you please explain that?

Zultrax supports two networks, Zepp and Gnutella. This feature is -of course - only available on Zepp. On that protocol Zultrax is the only available client. Zultrax hides which communication is going to which IP and on which IP files are found.

If one manages on some kind of way to connect to ZEPP and discramble the communication one might be possible to make that information visible. That is what we try to prevent.

Based on the characteristics of the communication one node calculates two complex numbers and sends one to the other. The other replies with the second number. If that does not match it is not using the proper algoritm and one is apperently trying to enter the network not using Zultrax.

In that case an intruder is detected. The intruder could be trying to figure out that algorithm without having to decompile zultrax and we make his attempt easy by sending an error message every time he is wrong.

So, we don't. We keep the connection alive and make sure that all information sent to him is garbage. That garbage can be created to answer queries with actuall found files but combined with the wrong IP's. Of course ' search results' being given by this intruder will be just dropped.

As a result the intruder will be given no information helping him in his attempt to hack stuff instead he will have hard time to detect if he is receiving garbage or not.

The used algorithm is dynamically and the garbage not just garbage but made as realistic as possible and in a low percentage of the cases it is not garbage, it is real.

Finally the goal of all this is to increase levels of privacy a little.

As for why being unable to use UDP, having no proper ultrapeers, no dynamic querying or having the most ugly GUI someone could possibly imagine sucks: - it simply does.
I have to agree on that one!

I'd hate to be queuing up with Shareaza for a file to dwnld. lol From what I've seen it's a queue jumper or should I say, it literally pushes all others out of the way (off the queue) to get to the top of the queue. In primary school, I think we had a name for those types of characters. Certainly not very sociable on the p2p network. Such a friendly p2p app. I also can't ever remember having been able to dwnld from a Shareaza app. which suggests its name is somewhat out of place (share...share what!???) Steal & steal band frequency I think. Ah how could I be so hard! When 2 apps mediate/communicate b/w each other, they should do it in a communal way. Not I take, I take, I take ... (My Shareaza anim went wrong & I'm too tired to fix it up. blert)

Shareaza cant push others off the queue, its impossible.

If thats what seems to happen to you, then perhaps you should explain whatexact happens. Im a long time Shareaza user and know the program inside out.

OK fine! Shareaza starts off bottom of a queue of about 20. Then suddenly one or 2 lw users disappear off the list & Shareaza moves up. The LW users join again below it. Then the same happens to the next one/2 LW in the queue...all the way until the shareaza user reaches no.1 And if out of my thoughts of unfairness, I delete it from the list it repeats the exact process over & over! You trying to tell me that's sociable p2p behaviour? Somethun' ain't quite right there, eh!?! If you're a Shareaa user how the heck would you know about something like that. All you would inference is that your app moves up the queue.

My intention is NOT to 'hang it' on any other p2p app. despite the sounds of it. But there's obviously something wrong here. Shareaza is not the only app I've noticed do this, but also another. It's purely a statement I've made out of experience of using LW. I've never used S. or most of the others so I can't comment about their effectiveness (even be it apparently at the sake of other apps) ... I've only use 2 other p2p apps & they were all mac. So take my comments as suggested & not as a hang it reference. Oh what a mess of a post or 2. lol Maybe I should fix that anim after all lol I tried to combine 2 anims which is why it stuffed up ..oh what the..
