Corrupt files When downloading a song I received a message that said file is corrupt, do you want to continue. It also asked if use the same answer every time this occurs. Of course I did not want to continue with a corrupt file, but I mistakenly hit YES. This means everytime a bad file appears it will download it and place it in my folder. Does anyone know who to change this? Thanks! |
No, normally (on a mac anyway) when you click no, it will shut LW down & the dwnlding will obviously stop. If for some reason it's ending up in your dwnld folder then there's something wrong! However, if you click no b/c you're confident it really is corrupt, then you should go to your LW Lib window & delete that file from the list just to be sure there's no trace remaining of it (make sure you choose the correct one.) But be aware, that some dwnlds are corrupted b/c it's corrupted at its source, but hen some files b/c corrupted during the dwnld process - this is where LW can recover the missing parts & you end up with a healthy file. So not every file you receive that message with is going to be truelly corrupted b/c the person who was offering it was offering a corrupt file. Sometimes a mishap suring the dwnlding process can occur. The best way to find out is to dwnld it twice, if it's corrupted the 2nd time then it is most likely corrupted at its source. |
corrupted files This seems to be happening alot to me lately on various types of files. Does anyone know why? |
Apparently some of the T3 connections (from what I've read) have been resoponsible. |

Maybe you should just press yes and kill the dld aftter that. I'd hate to propose the usual set of solutions (Java, preferences, blah, blah, blah...). You've read them and posted them as solutions youreslf so many times that you probably talk about it in your sleep (I think I do). |
In my experience receiving the corrupt message does not necessarily mean the file is corrupted after dwnlding is complete. I always use Softw Update so I keep my mac apps up to date. But mac version of Java apparently does have some small probs. |
