Downloads Disappeared From Shared Folder
 

I had 75 downloads in my shared folder and they vanished. Any ideas on why and how to prevent this from happening again?

Either you have clicked (by accident or not) to stop sharing in the Library pane and are unaware that the files can be accessed outside of LW, or you already know where your Shared folder is located in your comp and your files have indeed mysteriously vanished.

In the first case, the first thing you have to do is to seek out the Shared folder in your HD.
Pretty simple. If you have a PC, go to C:/Program Files/LimeWire/Shared.
If you have a Mac OS X, go to the house directory (the Shared folder is there).

See if the files are there. If they are, then you just clicked to stop sharing in LW. If they aren't, check the Incompletes folder that should be somewhere in the vicinity of the Shared folder (not in it, but close by). If they aren't in there either, it's probably time to start worrying.
Launch LW. Go to Tools, Options, Saving (that is, Limewire, Preferences, Saving if you have OS X) and check the itinerary that is indicated there. It could be that another folder has been specified as save location.
If it is so, go to that folder to see if the files are there.
If they aren't in there either, run every scan application you have: Antivirus, spybot, adware, disk utilities, anything and everything.
Post back with the results of some (or all) of that.
