![]() If you are sure that they won't share (an it's not just that they are too busy serving up files already), just delete their upload in the Monitor Window. Actually, busy hosts show up as unavailable, so it's very hard (and not worth the hassle IMHO) to accurately tell if someone is indeed a leech. |

![]() You ban them ..... but don't go yet! It is rarely that simple . Today I banned a host, I think with justification. He queued up a large list of my tunes and I browsed his share. He was sharing 16 songs. He said he was connected by modem, and yet he was uploading from me at a very good cable speed. I tried to download one of his songs and got the permanently busy message. I believe he was deliberately stopping uploads, thinking possibly that this would speed up his downloads Didn't work he he. ![]() The fact is that for a number of reasons a host may appear to be not sharing, but because of firewalls, strange ip nos like 192.168.xxx, which are in fact not the hosts real numbers ...(not quite sure how that one works but DON'T block hosts using this ip no as suggested in a thread which was posted a year or more ago, as some hosts using that ip no are totally excellent) and simply hosts who download perhaps on their wireless lap top and share from their other computer etc. etc... I recomend you read this thread, and then decide what you want to do ![]() http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ght=freeloader |

![]() Better get used to it. My ISP (Cox) is now blocking Gnutella sharing. I have many cool files shared but whenever anyone tries to U/L from me, I see connection error. I can D/L just fine. I bet many more ISPs will do same. This will soon mean the end of Gnutella unless the protocol is updated to combat this ASAP. Well it was nice while it lasted. Anyone know of a reliable file sharing method that give 100% anonymity? |

![]() There's no 100% anonymity for the masses yet. The EFF is promoting TOR as a start. http://tor.eff.org/ Good point about upload blocking, though. Lots of users think they're sharing, but don't realize that they may be filtered on uploads and are inadvertently leeching. Change ISP's, or talk to them about how to get a port that allows filesharing. Worked for me. Does COX allow filesharing (unfiltered bandwidth) on for its higher-priced connections? Check out the broadband reports http://www.broadbandreports.com/nsea...ox+filesharing They look to be allowing filesharing, so you may want to check that they are indeed filtering gnutella traffic. |
