You cannot block these results at present. Many of thes files have the same size and a size filter is something we have been asking for for ages. (with no luck).

Other types of filter are impracticle or impossible due to the fact that viruses can auto reproduce search terms for genuine searches.

Programmes (.exe) and Zip files should be avoided unless you are very sure what you are doing and have fully up to date virus protection (Not downloaded off Limewire) wma and wmv files are also risky fellows.

Hobo has said very much what I would've but for one thing, how do you expect to find protective software, like an AV app, on the P2P network swarming with viruses? Don't you think that the first thing virus writers would do is plant their viruses in bogus Norton (and similar) products.

The way to remain safe is to get your protective software from official sites only, anywhere else is just asking for trouble. And the next and most important thing to do is always keep your wits (and common sense) about you. Because most people who tend to get clobbered with viruses, worms and fall victim to scam sites seem to have one thing in common, a temporary failure of common sense.

Keep safe by using proper software from officials sites and always think about what you are about to do.

Stay safe.

Bob I was in two minds as to whether y-man was trying to get Norton products off Gnutella , or was using Norton to check his downloads. I hoped it was the latter, but put in "Not downloaded off Limewire" in the unlikely? event that it was the other but I know people do look for virus protection on Gnutella ... Oh dear

Avast offer a real-time scanning on P2P.

it how it work, while downloading, Avast will scan the file to make sure if no trace of virus, and will scan again later. after the download, Avast scan again to still to make sure no virus. they supported popular p2p program, but they dont have a support for Phex and FrostWare, because it new.

And it wont lag your download while scan, it just a quick scanning in the background

Does this mean that certain types of virus-infected machines are actively kicking back search results that exactly match any given search? I've been noticing lately that my searches are turning up exact matches which are virii and link to a broad variety of IP addresses which all belong to one ISP in the states.

I'm on a brand new computer with Norton blocking everything. I just downloaded LimeWire.
It seems that most everything I look for turns up a Virus.
It's not this way on my home computer and I've had LimeWire on that for months.

I can't get a legitamate file.
