instant messaging is, or will it be possible to send an instant message to the person you are downloading from? |
Yes it will and in some clients it is possible now (WinMX for example!)... but I think no Gnutella client has this feature yet... Morgwen |
It's possible with LimeWire's chat feature (which is really weak, though). But some people seem to be working on a Jabber-plugin for LimeWire, which is quite interesting in my opinion... |
John! Chat and IM is a difference! Morgwen |
Chat |
IM is a bad thing! :( After a simultanius chat with 8 persons on ICQ I had a nervous breakdown! After two weeks of psycoligical threat I was able to leave the hospital! Now (half a year later) I am allready able to partake liquid food! Bing! |

Re: Chat Quote:
And I donīt know gnet client with it! Morgwen |
as i posted in forums.gnotella... i would rather have the gnutella clients leave chat to the experts- AIM, ICQ, etc etc.... i mean, they're experts on running chat services, so why overlook them? maybe just make it easier to associate your screen names with your current IP. one way to pull this off would be for developers to add another query code which reports back the screen name. or a function similar to "get web page", that returns text from a file with contact info in it (if the user so desires to list theirs). a better solution would be to create an independent p2p chat client that piggybacks gnutella connections. then, all the developers could pipe chat requests to and from that program. there are a lot of ways to create a chat handler, does anyone have any ideas on what would be best? |
