![]() How about creating a link between Gnutella clients and a site like http://www.fairtunes.com so when we happen to have cd's of some artist or come across interesting mp3's from an artist, we can make a small donation without much hassle? Say that, if I highlight a search result, there will be a link "search for [searchterm] at fairtunes" ? What do you think? I like it better than the LimeWire "buy" link that leads to a (unfortunately most of the times ineffective) search on amazon (with LW's affiliate code, so they get a little of a purchase). Disclaimer: 1. No affiliation with fairtunes. 2. No experience using fairtunes, but visiting their site gave me a good feeling. (And no, a good feeling alone is not enough for serious business.) |

![]() Willem? From GDF? Anyway... Yes, I was thinking of incorporating Fairunes in my client, although I need to work out the legal details about this thing first. I also mentioned this on #gnutelladev about two weeks ago. -- Mike |

![]() Yes you did *g* The following link is what I think consumers should know when they buy a CD. When I buy a CD, how much goes to the artist? But please remember that I'm neither pro or anti MP3 sharing - I stand neutral on that (its good for artists that rely on commercial sales, its great for independent or unsigned bands). |

![]() Indeed, it's me, and I did just visit #gnutelladev. (I only wish it were on irc.openprojects.net instead, as there are many other open source/programming channels). I thought I'd ask this question here, to get some feedback from the users instead of the client developers. Turns out they don't have an opinion on this, it seems... ;-) Anyway, if I were to release a client, it will surely have www links: fairtunes, google, amazon, a lyrics database, ... And it will have super-easy ID3 editing, because meta data is very important for features like grouping search results and a "look for similar music" thingie. Standard file name formatting could help there too, btw. Nevertheless, *don't* expect any release from me in the next months ok? :-) |
