Does anybody know how to access the network without downloading the software. My university does not allow us to install any software. Please help me on this matter.

You need the client to acces to the network!

Without a client it would be "FREELOADING"...

Morg, isn't gnutella about sharing? I agree the more people that share, the better for the network. But if it is a requirement to contribute then it's no longer sharing, it's commerce.

if people are required to share then it is still sharing.... it is not fair just for people to take and take and never give back, especially for a free service... that is taking advantage of the situation. it is not commerce. if it were commerce then people would have to pay!

I still hold to my position, but the point here isn't some philosophical discussion on what sharing is.

I, for one, am willing to give regardless if the other person is sharing or not. Forcing people to share isn't what this network should be about. We may as well just set up a bunch of ratio ftp servers if we're going down that road.

Yes they can say a lot if you are using THEIR NETWORK FOR THAT THE UNSERVERSIOTY PAYS THE BILLS!

The point is universites pay for their traffic - more traffic higher bills...
