Angry Widespread Trouble with GnutellaNet

As most users know by now, there is widespread trouble on GnutellaNet. See previous posts for partial solution(?). We need to get the word out that running SFC under Windows can find and replace the corrupt system file. This still does not solve the problem of users' disconnecting quickly because they have not themselves performed this action. It is too early to know if this action may be, or lead to, a fix.

I just ran SFC and it didn't find any modified or corrupted files to replace... And my connection to the gnutellanet still seems meager. I think there are probably some deeper, network-based problems, and unfortunately the developers don't seem to be active in their forums.

I doubt that that is the problem. The problems are the flood of new users, the ever advancing spammers, and client problems (noteably .56 DONT USE IT).

I am using gnotella v0.73 on win98. I have also tried the System File Checker (SFC) method and found no files which needed replacing. This may be helpful for some, but the general network ailment seems to be a bigger issue.

Hmm. I'm running Gnutella0.56 and have been having similar problems, to the extent I've become a bit disillusioned with Gnutella (0.56 is my first experience with it)

I've just tried installing and running Gnotella, version 0.73, but although it looks pretty, has lots of nice features and seems to work better than Gnutella, it crashes within the first couple of searches with an "overflow" run-time error.

Any recommendations of decent clients?
