network swamping I'm sitting here with gnutella running - doing nothing, but my machine is processing up to 100 packets per second coming in over the net. 74% of my network traffic is nutella (154326 packets) 6% of my network traffic is adapt-sna 3% of my network traffic is essbase 2% of my network traffic is rds2 2% of my network traffic is rap-service Why are you hosing my network with his stuff? Do people realize that by installing this software their network bandwidth is going to be drastically reduced? About 50% of what I am seeing is porn related. If I am downloading or uploading stuff, then I would expect to see network activity - however I am seeing traffic constantly. Any reason? |

what is your total network bandwidth? Is this only 74% of 2K ? It can't take up everything you have to just pass packets. Those other packets are windows, quit using windows. It splatters packets all over the place as long as it is running. |
Well, I guess it's true that some clients can gulp down all the network bandwidth, but this might be a characteristic of the network itself, as well. Being on a T1 connection, running NapShare 1.0 means a constant 400-1500 kbps traffic in the TCP/IP traffic of mine. So, I think it isn't particularly true what is said in the documentation that "uses very few of network bandwidth". Of course, out of very few, only very few can be used. But it's still a cool thing to use, nevertheless. So, peepz, keep the network alive :)) I try my best. GoldFish |
