That will be nice, thanks. How hard would it be to have one of those host caches on a different port, so that all of us that have port 6346 blocked will have an easier time of getting connected too.

Ask the providers to change it! You can also start an own caches!

"The providers", what are caches alias for then.

AFAIK CycloCide is responsible for the gnutellanet caches, Vinnie for the bearshare caches, Limewire for their router etc.!

You should ask them!
