Which one of these is YOUR client running? (Paul Baran's vision of a linked network in the 1960s) A: You are running Napster. What will you do if the central hub is kicked out? B: You are running LimeWire/BearShare. What will you do if you're actually only seeing half of the network? C: You are running Gnutella. Congratulations Well, I dunno... I think it's rather prophetic! |

Limewire does 99% the same what Bearshare does, they are best friends (qouting Vinnie and LW staff). but nazi is too hard, call them 'gnutella destroying $$$ greedy liars'. picture 3 is not gnutella, picture 2 is. to see what BS/LW do, make two circle in the middle of picture 2, label them 'black holes' and watch while they succ away users. Oh and add lies, spyware some hidden blocking features called clustering and prefering. |

cut/paste from "The BearShare BlackHole Test" http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...?threadid=9192 Don't get sucked into the BearShare BlackHole! A map of the new "clustering" network plan for Gnutella: O = "outsider" (anyone using a non commercial client, Gnucleus, XoloX, etc..) B = BearShare (aka BlackHole) L = LimeWire Code: O O O O O O O \ | | | / O O O \ \ BBBBBBBBBBB / / O O <- (ready to be sucked in) O \ \BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB/ / / O \ BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB O O O \ BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB / / \ BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB - O - O - BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB - RIAA/MPAA (listening post attached to home page) BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB / BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB \ O BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB O - O <- (another victim is ready) / BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB \ \ O / BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB \ O | O / BBBBBBBBBBB \ O | "Vinnie$$Net" O / | | | \ O | O O O O O | | | O O O | \ | / | O LLLLLLLLLLL O O <- (soon to be sucked into BS) \ LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL / / O LLLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL O \ LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL / LLLLLLLLLLOLLLLOLLLLLLL O - O - LLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL - O LLLLLLLLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLLLL / LLLLLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL \ O LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOLLLLL O / LLLLLLLLOLLLLLLLLLL \ O LLLLLLLLLLLLLLL O / LLLLLLLLLLL \ "LimeWireNet" O | O O \ | | O - O - O - O | / \ \ | O O O - O - O | / / \ | \ O - O O O O O - O O | \ | / | \ "GnutellaNet" O O O O O O \ | / \ \ | Think about what it takes for one outsider to reach another outsider across the "BlackHole" ! Does this serve Vinnie $$$ or Gnutella? Greed sucks! Fight back, cluster away from the greed! |

I almost forgot the best part, when Vinnie has to admit he put in "preferencing code". Then later he has to admit he is "preferencing" in his public host cache. Then a little later he has to admit to BS "preferencing" where a upload port always waits for a BS client only. ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT??? ________________________________________________ Vinnie BearShare Developer Wow Actually, the diagram is roughly accurate. The BearShare preferencing code is designed to create a concentrated core base of BearShare nodes, with connections to other servents delegated to the fringe of this core. This provides the best performance for BearShare users, and still ensures that the entire network is connected. ________________________________________________ Edit that last part SB: "and still ensures that the entire network is connected as outsiders, so I have a back up in case I screw up again" |
