Default Can't connect

Just installed onto a brand-new, clean Redhat 7.2 system. Got JRE working just fine, entered the PATH statement and am able to execute the LimeWire program just fine as well.

Problem is that I never can connect. No errors, no logs...nothing. When the program starts, it immediately presents me with the "Disconnected/no files available" Attempting to manually connect produces the same result.

System is browsing the web just fine, no rules on the firewall in the way.

I'm somewhat of a newbie, so don't know where to go from here or what tracing I can do.

Sounds like a firewall problem nonetheless involving any ports above 1024. Common firewall setup. Taliban brings up an important point regarding your method of internet access. Such as are you masqueraded, routed, connecting through a proxy server, lan, or dealing directly from broadband and/or dialup?. I am betting on proxy as that would allow port 80 (web) to work and anything above 1024 to not work (by default).

Best regards,
altoine
