Default Unable to search on Album/Artiste etc

I used LimeWire 2.3.something quite successfully under Mandrake 8.1

However when I upgraded to Mandrake 8.2 I reinstalled LimeWire and since then I no longer see the search fields to filter on Album/Artiste etc. I can only search on filename.

I have upgraded to LimeWire 2.4.1 but it is no different.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

isn't there the file type selection on the left hand side (bottom)? select audio and you will get all the data fields again.

Default Search fields

Yes I have the 6 radio buttons to select file type. But pressing them does not give me any more search fields.

Default Fixed It!

Ah... I found the problem.

I had installed LimeWire in /opt/LimeWire so all my users could share it.

I needed to give my users write access to the /opt/LimeWire folder and to the text files within that folder. Now it works.

I would not normally expect users to need write access to an application binary folders when there is a perfectly good .limewire directory in each users home directory to use. Still there it is. All working.

Thanks for taking an interest.

same problem here. i had another strange problem where i can only use a subdir of my home directory OR a directory w 777 permissions for a share folder. otherwise it fails, even if the directory belongs to the same owner/group as the user running limewire and is writable to both. what i found REALLY weird is that it failed AFTER it had already created the Incomplete subdir in the directory I was trying to select.

any ideas?
