shared files on nfs Hi, I just "upgraded" (...) to the newest version. While the good old Limewire version needs about 20 seconds to load all my shared files, the new version needs about 10 hours!!! That's no joke! All my shared files are mounted via nfs, and it takes 30 seconds to recognize a single file! What the hell does it do here? Reading out all MP3 tags??? How can this be turned off? cheers, ASkr |
I wish I knew I agree with you completely ... My files have been "scanning" for a day and a half without completeion yet ... great upgrade ... good job ... gotta love it... thanks ... pat yourselves on the back ... but then again, its been said that you cant please all the people all the time ... but ... please someone. |
I have no real problem with the hashing (although I've heard some people state that it happens every time they start LimeWire, it hasn't happened to me - and I think it's a permissions problem). What really bugged me was the fact that nowhere (at least in the docs that I read) did it state that it was doing such a thing. Having some large files, I had no idea what was going on when I first installed. Luckily, (although frustratingly) I came up here and tried to ask... and tried to ask... and tried to ask.... but the server wasn't in the mood to accept my posts... After a significant amout of time, I looked at LimeWire again & 1 of the files had mysteriously appeared and it occurred to me what might be happening. |
