limewire 2.6 - how to make a desktop shortcut I have installed Limewire and all works. I start it in its own directory with "sh runLime.sh". How can I make this start from my desktop? I am a bit of an newbie and creating a link to the application from my desktop does not work. |
This probably won't work for you as everybody's installation of linux is different. But it may give you an idea how to do it within your distro and X-window application. In KDE, right click on desktop (or wherever you want it to be) and select 'create new / link to application'. In General tab, give it a any name you like. Suprisingly enough I chose to call it "LimeWire". Under execute tab, browse to wherever your "/LimeWire/LimeWire" startup script is. [pointing to "runLime.sh" wouldn't work for me.] Click "okie Dokie" FYI, The new startup icon uses the default KDE application icon. I haven't found the appropriate LimeWire icon yet. Applies to Mandrake Linux v9.0 w/KDE 3.0.3 and LimeWire 2.7.3 Luther / Orlando FL |
more on create link Just one more suggestion, check the 'Run in terminal box' under the Execute tab so you can see any errors that might occur. When you happy that LimeWire works fine, you can go back later and turn this off right-clicking and select properties. Luther |
