Default annotate fails

I can tell you that I have the same problem. annotate doesn't work here either. I even loaded the suggested j2re but no help.

I sent a bug report but no answer...

in what way doesn't it work? button doesn't let you click? changes don't stick? little more detail would help root out the problem.

Default annotate.

look at :

http://grobbebol.xs4all.nl/annotate.png

you can't pt anything into the window to annotate the file. tried different files as well. you simply cannot put _anything_ into the window.

I mailed a bug report but haven't seen any replies so far. has been several weeks ago :-(

looks like you're missing xsd (xml schema definition) files... limewire uses those to know how to read metadata. they should be under <limewire installation directory>\lib\xml\schemas.

if they're not there, i'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of limewire. if you're feeling adventerous, you can even try out the latest beta (2.8) which has some nice improvements. see adam's post here for more info.

lib/xml/schemas is non-existent and will not be there either when you reinstall.

a friend of mine reports exactly the same too.

I install the limewire.bin file in /opt/limewire if that makes any sense.

a locate (with updated updatedb) doesn't show the dir either. there is only an uninstall lib in the limewire dir.

suggestions ? (and yes, I'll try the 2.8.x version)

Install LimeWire in your user directory OR run it (just once) with root permissions and shut it down again OR set the permission to all files in the /opt/LimeWire folder so you have write access as user.

ok,

I have installed as root but can't remember if I ever ran it once as root user.

if this fixes the stuff it could be an option to start limewire when installing once.

I'll let you know in a second... reinstalling.
the scanning is pretty slow.. hmm.

ok, it works when executed as root. will start now as user... stay tuned..

YESSSSSSSSSSS works too. thanks..
