Lightbulb HOWTO - Solve the problem with Java and LimeWire

After reading so many posts of people having problems with the Java engine and the LimeWire installation here is what to do in order to make them work...

DON'T USE ANY JAVA ENGINE FROM THE DISTRO YOU ARE USING... NO WAY
(i have experienced big problems with the java engines of both RedHat and Mandrake. The only one that doesn't have problems is the one of SuSE).

()FIRST STEP:
Download the "J2SE v 1.4.2 with NetBeans IDE v 3.5 Cobundle" from the site of Sun. I recommend you to download this version of jre and not the smaller one since here the newbies won't have any problem to install it... because you can select on the GUI interface of the installer were you want to install everything. I recommend you to install it on a seperate folder under /. Lets say /java

()SECOND STEP:
After the installation finishes you can easily install LimeWire by writing the following command on the SHELL

/java/j2sdk1.4.2/jre/bin/java -jar LimeWire.jar

()FINAL STEP:
Now the Java engine won't have any problem finding the right files... no java.reflect.Method.invoke or any other problem like that. Use the same technique in order to target java run files. It is quarenteed that it will work all the time.

If you are bored writing this long command all the time in order to run LimeWire you can easily create a shortcut on your desktop by placing the same command on the command box of the shortcut.

PEACE
