Have you tried to install it as root?

Things to check first:
- do you have a running java runtime? To be on the save side, you migth use the development kit, e.g. available from blackdown.org

- try to install the limewire version for 'other'. it is smaller to download and - at least for me - with less problems.

- if it still freezes...is the system still busy and the process still alive?

Cheers

i've got the same problem on SuSE 7.1
I downloaded the 'other' installation but get an error when I try to install it with
'java -classpath LimeWireOther.zip install'
:
java.lang.noclassdeffounderror: com/zerog/ja/installer/main
at install.main{[Dachpro-V1.2-120198]}
PS: note that I have JRE installed on my system!

Sure. Get the Java Run-Time Environment v1.18.3 from blackdown.org, install it, export THREADS_FLAG="native", and run Limewire without any problems. I haven't tried it with a newer Java RE.
