java/thread/crashing issue+ connectivity issue I'm running Slackware 7.1 with JSDK 1.3.1, And tried both 1.4b, 1.5, and 1.6b and there are two issues/problems that i experience: 1. If there are *many* active downloads *or* many open connections I have to expect Limewire to crash with a nullpointerexeption. The linux kernel claims it runs out of *threads*(!) When the JAVA engine/limewire reaches the "crash point" I can't even run LS or PS since the Shell(bash) forks and claims there are no more available treads. (as an regular user.. I'm afraid to run limewire as a root.. it hogs resources) 2. Limewire doesn't seem to time out on "bad"/old connections. this slowly leads limewire to loose contact with the gnutella net as the *working* connections fall away, and the replacement connections "stalls". (never stops waiting eg. "connecting.." ) I have to admit that i *like* limewire, user interface, and design. But I'm a bit dissapointed, since I can never leave the client alone for more thant 15 minuttes.. It makes it impossible for me to share anything on my computer, noone manages to get a complete download :/ And I'l hate to change to a Windows gnutella client :/ I'l have to change my firewall script. (no, the firewall script Isn't the cause of my problems, I've tried it with the firewall disabled..) Anyone here with the same problem? or a solution? please? *crawling on my knees* |
