Default why so hard?

why is it so hard to install Limewire, from a begginer point of view, this is a nightmare! how many people out there trying to install and running into problems, really continue on?
there has to be a simple way to install...
as much as I hate windows (and I do) at least program install with ease.
guys, I think that this is the main reason Linux is not as wide spread as it should and could be.
I guess I'll just keep trying... one day I WILL have Limewire running on my Linux machine :-)
that's it off my chest, no more bitching... :-)

Default thanks

Thanks mate,
I have installed and running Gentoo, since then installing Limewire was easy... I actually run it with no problems what so ever, I still think that the install of Limewire should take care of everything needed for a working program...

Well, i would say it is quite easy.The thing is that you have to java (jdk) installed first.

Here it goes :

download jdk (i am using 1.4 )for Gnu/Linux.

1) use cp jdk_your_version.bin /usr/local/src/ .

2) use chmod u+x jdk_your_version.bin to make your file executable.

3) go ./jdk_your_version.bin <- will install jdk.

4) set up your path .That can be done in a number of ways.The easiest would be to edit your .bash_profile file in your home dir or create a new one if it doesn't exist :-) .

add:

JAVA_HOME= /usr/local/src/jdk_your_version/bin/

PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME:

test in your console by going java --version

You are done :-).

Now go to your limewire.bin and execute it .Hopefully you have LimeWire running .

Thumbs down Steps aren't as easy as defined above!

./j2eesdk-1_4-linux.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have the latest version of libstdc++ installed!

You are using the wrong java package. The one you have is the "Enterprise Edition" as noted in the java package name j2eesdk. HTH
