Installing LimeWire1.3 on > 7.0 Linux Answer!!! Finally got this answer from someone in a Mandrake news group: I used method #2 First, make sure you have followed the instructions in the error message. You need to have a valid archive for the following to work. Make sure that your Linux system has a utility called uncompress installed. This should appear in your /usr/bin directory. If it is not installed you can try one of two things: 1) Install the required package from your Linux media that contains uncompress. 2) Create a link from gunzip and call it uncompress in the /usr/bin directory. gunzip will work to uncompress *.Z files and the install should complete successfully. Finally, no more gtk_gnutella...! HTH geo! |

the same here with LimeWireLinux (the Java version install correctly but the configuration window is unresizable and unusable) same error: SIGSEGV received at bffff1fc in /tmp/install.dir.8375/Linux/resource/jre/lib/linux/native_threads/libjava.so. Same thing happened for me on mandrake 8 but here is how you can get it working. go to java.sun.com and install the java jre if you don't already have it. download LimeWireOther.zip type this "java -classpath LimeWireOther.zip install" Wherever you told it to install LimeWire you can just do a "./LimeWire" and it works fine. |

@me The installation of LimeWireOther.zip pursuant to your tip has been successful. By the way, how do I set a link to "java" so that I can execute "java" not only within the jre/bin directory? Now comes the real problem. The program runs ok, but I cannot resize the options window. Due to this bug? I cannot set any preferences. Please help... Olaf |
