Non-root, eh? I've noticed LimeWire will not shut down if its data files have read-only privileges- probably what you're suffering from. Though I mostly use it on NT 4, I think the problem's the same across all platforms. I used to run LimeWire directly off a CD, and it wouldn't quit. Problem vanished when I copied LimeWire to the hard drive and gave it full read/write access to its data files (Java, Swing libraries, etc.) Hope this helps. You may have to badger the sysadmin. |
victory! thanks for your input Witch Doctor i was thinking along the same lines when i went to sleep last night.. in the morning give each file in the LimeWire directory write access to all users, not just the directories.. i figured the non root account process of LimeWire was trying to write to a configuration file when it shutdown and couldnt so it just wouldnt shutdown thanks for sharing your experience i have total success with this amazing application now take care i'm outta here |
