![]() Hi This is what happens! :-( [root@dsl-hkigw2q3d aeh]# rpm -Uvh LimeWireLinux.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libXss.so.1 is needed by LimeWire-free-4.6.0-0 I've tried to get the above mentioned libXss but there is always some other similar message. Why can't LimeWire be a bin package like it used to? |

![]() Greetings, the missing dependency is actually no big deal - it happens on systems older than 1 year. You can install the LimeWire rpm by typing the following in a terminal: rpm -Uvh --nodeps LimeWireLinux.rpm We switched to RPM format because it allows us to integrate Limewire with the destkop much better. The next version will have menu entries for Mandrake, which I'm sure you will appreciate. |

![]() I too preferred it when LimeWire was offered as a BIN package. Afterall, isn't the idea of Java/Swing applications that there be no native dependencies (just a locally installed JVM)? I run Sun JDS Linux (SuSE under the hood), and there's been no noticeable issues in my experience with LimeWireLinux.bin integrating with my Gnome desktop environment, other than having to manually set up a desktop launcher - simple task. I guess I'm a little worried by what sounds like LimeWire being coupled to specific distro's. Other than this, I think LimeWire is a great product. Keep up the good work. Regards, Chris. |
