Something went wrong with LimeWire.
Maybe you're using the wrong version of Java?
(LimeWire is tested against and works best with with Sun's JRE, Java 1.4+)
The version of Java in your PATH is:
java version "1.4.2_07"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_07-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_07-b05, mixed mode)
Code:
[truthfatal@localhost ~]$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 #1 Thu Feb 24 14:00:06 EST 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Code:
[truthfatal@localhost ~]$ java -version
java version "1.4.2_07"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_07-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_07-b05, mixed mode)
Java downloaded from
[http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html]

LimeWire downloaded from Limewire
[http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml]

*Edit*
Perhaps I should ask a question as well.....
What went wrong?

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the latest JRE from java.sun.com but I get a ton of failed dependencies if I try to install it. Plus, the path to libawt.so in the error message below does not exist on my machine.

Starting LimeWire...
Java exec found in PATH. Verifying...
Suitable java version found [java = 1.4.2]
Configuring environment...
Loading LimeWire:
reflect - bad awtHandle.
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-ibm-1.4.2.1/jre/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I went into /usr/lib/LimeWire and ran "java -jar LimeWire.jar"

LimeWire started up just fine. It seems to be something in the runLime.sh script.

It may be getting tripped up on the fact that libawt.so appears in two places on my machine... it's in /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.4.2-ibm-1.4.2.1/jre/bin and it's in /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_07/lib/i386.
