Default followed the sticky for installing to no avail. please help

I have FC3 and have the latest beta for Limewire just gotten today and also have reinstalled the latest java and tested it on the site. I even copied the j2re files to my /opt file because i read a post that Limewire looked in there. i still get the message when i click on the installer that it can't find j2re and when i opened a terminal and put :

rpm -Uvh --nodeps ~/LimeWireLinux.rpm

i get this message

error: File not found by glob: ~LimeWireLinux.rpm

please please please help! i admit to being a noob but i am close to pulling my hair out.

thanks for any help...
