Default limewire & guarddog

Hi everyone

I am a somewhat experienced linux user. Currently running Simply mephis flavour linux with 512 ram, 60 gig hdd, motorola SB5100 modem, Rogers Highspeed lite service provider, not being shared with other computers, limewire version 4.2.11, java version 1.5.0_08 I got lime installed and loading fine but when it tries to connect it sits at one bar and the firewall is detected. It is listening on port 11568 and it is using UPnp. On guarddog I opened both udp and TCP on ports 11568. But with the same results. I am missing something here.
Thanks in advanced
mrbig

Mr Big.
"I am sure that it isn't the ISP"

Have you phoned them, (SURE), how did you reach that conclusion.?
Your java is also out of date, Try replacing it using this link.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6 Use the off line installer NOT the (recormended) one,
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Follow thease instructions exactly.
P.S.. Phone your ISP, if this dont help n ask If they are shaping P2P.
Peace.

Default I had the same problem with Limewire and SimplyMepis 6.5

I had the same problem with limewire when I first installed. Guarddog has Gnutella configured for limewire goto:

Kmenu>Internet>Security>Guarddog then
click on protocol tab on top and a list will be revealed on the right.

Click the + for file transfer ( you should see Gnutella-File Sharing Network) uncheck and click apply

Now open limewire and recheck Gnutella, this should set the protocols needed and allow it to connect...This is how I fixed it..I hope it helps...

You should not need to uninstall Java- I had a clean install of SimplyMepis month ago
