![]() Ok, I've done everything I know how to do.. Everything I've read.. I've got a problem, and I can't fix it.. First, let's get the specifics out of the way.. My Machine: AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.47Ghz MSI K7T266A Pro 2 266mhz FSB Motherboard 768mb PC2700 DDR SDRam 80 Western Digital Hard Drive Sound Blaster Live Platinum nVidia Geforce 4 Ti-4400 (MSI) Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon Windows XP Professional Now, I don't think most of it is useful, but I've found, you just never know. Now for the problem at hand.. I've got the mysterious blank screen LimeWire.. It loads to nothing but a blank screen.. I've installed the latest .deb from LimeWire.com, if that's important.. I've already tried these following remedies.. Installing the correct version of java, and adding the path's the rights all that... I've set the software sources correctly... I've tried installing from an RPM from one of the links on these forums.. Now, for other problems that I haven't checked much into.. I've read that the "3d" enabled desktops could be a problem, does this include the Compiz visual effects with Gutsy Gibbon? If so, how do I go about testing it, without uninstalling the Compiz package? I'll be honest, I'm on a dialup connection, and me and a friend share files alot, and we use mainly limewire, since it's easy, and we can browse and resume when we want.. I've also read where the rights have to be issued.. So I tried logging on as the administator account, or root, or whatever you want to call it, but nothing.. I'm at my wits end here. Don't know what else to try, and I'd hate to have to boot into XP just to play with Limewire again.. Gah, windows.. the horror... THE HORROR.. lol Ok Thanks in Advance, AoD |

![]() Yes the advanced features of the nVidia cards can cause problems for some people. Other alternatives I can think of: are you using LW 5? Did this problem happen with LW 4? Too many shares to load might be an issue. LW 5 does not like too many shared files (or too many incomplete files). For some people, the version of Java was an issue. Java 1.6_5 I think was a version that solved issues for both some Linux & some windows users; Archive: Download Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE) 6u5 |
